Buy "The Last, Lost Empire"

By Ted Becker

“The book” as you know it is about to disappear. You are reading its successor right now.  Do you know this is a “digital book”?  Well, it is.  And this part of it is FREE.  Enjoy.  We want as many people to use this public service to get up-to-date and accurate political and social information, a wide array of expert opinion, and easily accessible public networking for no cost.  That is the beauty, excellence and democratic nature of the Internet and we are a part of that revolution in political communications. Boycott BP, Part II: It’s On! Do Your Part!

100% of T-Shirt Proceeds Go To Charity!

There are already reports of an informal boycott of BP gasoline stations in Florida and according to CNNmoney.com “An online movement to boycott BP for its role in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is growing at a rate of better than 25,000 names-a-day”  Sales are down and plunging. And why not? The evidence mounts every day of BP’s initial recklessness, its gross negligence just before the well blew, its fascist actions to suppress information, and so far not much more than empty rhetoric from the U.S. government…and the threat of a wave of endless lawsuits that might be settled in 20 years. Is the tea party over for Rand Paul?

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

By Mark Coleman

After the drubbing Rand Paul has been taking in the last few days, since his significant 59 percent victory in Kentucky’s Republican Party primary over the party establishment-favored opponent, I am very subdued about what lies ahead.

Most of the attacks have come from so-called liberals and leftists (playing into the hands of the Republican Party establishment) who should be happy that such a candidate beat down an opponent favored by the power brokers who got us into this mess in the first place. (more…)

Buy "The Last, Lost Empire"

By Ted Becker

Newcomers to this blog might be unaware that it is part of a digital book website.  The book is named The Last, Lost Empire...and all blogs are related to and consistent with the themes in the book.  For a tiny taste of the book click here to go to the homepage.  Now on to Texas and its penchant for rewriting history, Soviet style.

There is no doubt that our book, which is a hybrid text-and-trade book is chock full of accurate and easily understandable political  and economic theory, the history of empires, and the harsh realities of  today’s “New World Chaos.”  Thus, it would be cut to ribbons by the Texas Board of Education before it could ever be used in any Texas public high school. By Ted Becker

No, I’m not a meteorologist or TV weatherman…and I’m not a Bob Dylan “Weatherman” either. However, I can see the way patterns are emerging and I can engage in the not-so-fine art (not science) of geopolitical forecasting of short term futures. So here’s what I see in store for the Summer of 2010. (more…)

Hooray for Greece, Iceland and Ron Paul!

By Ted Becker

They created the first institutions in the world that one could call truly democratic. They coined the word “democracy.” The citizens ruled, period. They had many ways to make sure that all citizens could have a say in what happened to their society. Demos=The People. Cracy=Government. Lincoln said it well. “..a government of the people, by the people and for the people…” (more…)

Surprise: The Green Party is a Political Force in Colombia

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

By W. John Green
Council on Hemispheric Affairs

An extraordinary event may be reflected in Colombia’s electoral polling: conceivably the politics of thuggery, corruption and Bogotá-inspired violence under the ruling Uribe administration, is being successfully challenged by Mockus’ Green Party.

The amazing rise of Antanas Mockus and his Green Party in Colombia belies the stereotype, common even among Latin America specialists, of a country irredeemably plagued by violence and appropriately known for its “faux democracy.” Mockus and the Greens prove that Colombian democracy can be real enough, though admittedly conflicted. Boycott BP and Expel These Global Corporate Criminals From America

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

It is early May and the greatest oil spill in American history continues to grow. British Petroleum, known to one and all as “BP,” has added its most heinous crime against humanity and Mother Earth to its long and inglorious list.

About 4 years ago, in March of 2005, gross negligence by this company led to a huge explosion at a refinery in Texas City which cost 15 lives and injured about 180 workers. BP settled a number of court cases and lost a billion or two dollars in lawsuits. Shortly thereafter, U.S. investigators reported that BP was well aware of the safety problems at that refinery and that many of those problems were due to “cost cutting.” Read the Washington Post story here

Remember the great oil pipeline “leak” in Alaska that shut down that state’s largest oil field in 2006? Yup. BP once again. Take a look at this NBC News report at that time: (more…)

Bill Maher on Dismantling the American Empire and Cuttng the National Debt

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

By Ted Becker

Throughout The Last Lost Empire, we have been showing how William Graham Sumner, in his immortal article in the 1899 Yale Law Journal was eerily prescient in predicting what disasters would befall the United States for becoming a European style empire. He predicted huge government, enormous debt, government subsidized businesses to support a gigantic military…all at the expense of America’s health, welfare and liberty. Well? Look where we are now.
